Australia's national broadband network already has its first customers in Tasmania. ACA gets the verdict from those included in the government's initial roll-out.
The first stage of the network rollout began in June and will continue until the end of the year.
The first people to access the network will be in:
Victoria - Parts of Brunswick
Queensland - Parts of Aitkenvale and Mundingburra
New South Wales - Minnamurra and Kiama Downs and an area of west Armidale, including the University of New England
South Australia - Willunga
Tasmania - Midway Point, Scottsdale and Smithton
The second stage of the network rollout will include another 19 sites and is expected to start in June 2011.
Here are the places on the list:
Victoria – Bacchus Marsh, South Morang
Queensland –Springfield Lakes, Toowoomba.
New South Wales – Riverstone, Coffs Harbour
South Australia – Modbury, Prospect
Western Australia – Victoria Park, Geraldton, Mandurah
Northern Territory – Casuarina
ACT – Gungahlin
Also included in the second stage of the rollout will be the network's expansion in Minnamurra, Kiama Downs and Armidale in NSW, Towsnville in Qld, Brunswick in Victoria and Willunga in South Australia.
Release dates for the rest of Tasmania not covered in the first stage of the rollout are expected to be announced soon.
