In all major cities across Australia, alcohol-fuelled violence is rife and communities are fast running out of solutions to stop the bloodshed.

ACA reporter Tom Steinfort accompanied a 14-man private security force, employed by business owners in Kings Cross on Saturday night as they did their rounds of the area.

They have rejected the idea they are a vigilante mob enforcing the law and instead believe their intimidating presence is making a difference.
