It's the Centrelink shake-up that is controversial and compulsory, getting teen parents out of the house back to school.
The crackdown is being trialled in ten locations around Australia. In each area, teen parents who have not finished Year 12 or an equivalent must go back to school once their child turns one. If they refuse, their welfare payments are stopped.
If the program is deemed successful, it has the potential to roll out in cities across Australia.
