Have you ever tried this method of mould removal? Because I have and it works. Chemicals aren't always the answer.

Our hot, humid and rainy summer months have been a homeowner’s nightmare, with mould thriving in the damp conditions. But there are simple ways to rid your home of mould for just a few dollars – and Shannon Lush shows us how.

Left to spread, mould can be both damaging to your home and your health, and advertisers have long suggested harsh chemicals like bleach are the only way to combat the problem.

But Author Shannon Lush said these chemicals are not only dangerous to breathe, they won’t actually kill the mould but merely bleach it.

For long-term mould fighting it is essential to allow ventilation to problem areas; fixing broken fans and opening windows will help dry out damp rooms.

To blitz the actual mould – Lush recommends a few simple ingredients.

“With hard surfaces - all you need is oil of cloves, you don't need very much - more isn't better, it's very important to follow the recipe, for each litre of water, you use a quarter of a teaspoon of oil of cloves, that's all you need,” she said. www.shannonlush.com“Spray it over, leave it for a while, let it do its job and kill the mould and you just wipe it off.”

For ceilings, she recommends repurposing a household broom.

“All you need to do is get your pantyhose, stick it over the head of a soft kitchen broom, spray the head of the broom and sweet the ceiling.”
