A statement from Hungry Jacks Australia
Hungry Jack's has confirmed that it has reluctantly followed the lead of its competitors and
commenced selling imported fries in some of its restaurants to enable it to keep its promise to freeze its family-friendly prices for at least the rest of the financial year. This decision has been
taken in the face of four unprecedented price rises imposed by its local supplier in the last 20
months totaling approximately 30 per cent. To honour its price commitment to its customers,
Hungry Jack’s felt it had no alternative but to identif y alternate suppliers.
Hungry Jack’s has been, and remains, a loyal supporter of locally produced food products
however is also conscious of the need to meet its customers’ value and quality expectations.
Although competitors have on occasions been selling imported fries for many years, Hungry
Jack’s has, until this point, sourced all of its fries from Australian growers in Tasmania and
Victoria, from whom it will continue to source the majority of its needs.
The decision to import fries remains under constant review.
While Hungry Jack’s will continue to use Australian produce whenever and wherever possible, its
first priority remains providing its customers with great tasting, quality food at good value prices
and in so doing maintaining the viability of business which employs more than 14,000
Australians.
