Have you ever wondered what to do with the jewellery given to you by a former lover?
Well, turning it into cash at a gold party might sound more appealing than sneaking into a pawn shop.
Gold rush parties are sweeping Australian neighbourhoods. Just like Tupperware parties, you can host one for friends in your own home and make commission.
Guests are asked to BYOG (bring your own gold). Unwanted gold broken necklaces, single earrings, unwanted gifts, or those ugly pieces of jewellery handed down to you that you'll never wear can be turned into cash.
A gold expert will join the party and set up gold testing equipment to assess each piece of jewellery. They will test and weigh the gold, and make an offer to buy it.
The companies claim there is no pressure to sell the items.
