It's the Gumtree warning alert. If you're planning to buy or sell online, A Current Affair has some important information you need to know.

Here's a statement from Gumtree:

With over 3 million people visiting Gumtree every month there are millions of successful transactions each month.

Gumtree takes the safety and rights of its users very seriously and we provide safe trading tips to our users.

Gumtree's top safety tips are:
— Never send money to anyone you don’t know
— If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't true
— Always use common sense

Specifically relating to the sale/purchase of tickets, Gumtree recommends:
— Always check the event terms and conditions with the official event promoter to ensure the ticket is valid
— Double check the event has not been cancelled
— Never send or wire money to anyone you don't know

Specifically relating to the rental, Gumtree recommends:
— When looking for a rental property always view the property in person
— Where possible we advise users to meet the landlord

Gumtree is a community-based service and we encourage our users to report suspicious ads via a red flag button displayed on every ad on the site.

We advise users to report suspected criminal activity to police and Gumtree works closely with law enforcement agencies.
