This couple lost everything in a home electrical fire - but Bob and Deb claim their home may have been saved, had their power supplier responded to their calls for help.
Response to A Current Affair from power provider Powercor:
"Mrs Mahy contacted us recently about the fire at her house on August 1. Recognising that she had been through a traumatic event, we began an investigation into the cause of the fire and her contact with us on the night. Our initial view is that source of the problem was within the house and not on Powercor’s electricity network."
"Our investigation is not complete, and we have stayed in touch with Mrs Mahy. We are also waiting for the results of the CFA’s investigation. We urge all households with any uncertainty at all about their wiring to call a licensed electrical inspector and have it checked immediately. A list of registered inspectors is available from the Government safety regulator, Energy Safe Victoria."
