Brady Bunch: Miracle Soap

Leanne Faulkner firmly believes in the law of attraction. Two very different situations came together in her life and the journey has been nothing short of amazing.

You see, Leanne is an animal lover. Her husband John says she just has to rescue those on death row at the RSPCA. So her backyard is full of cats and dogs. But on one visit to the shelter she found a goat that was abandoned and about to be put down.

She couldn't have that so Leanne went home with a goat. On the way out they said to her: "you do know how to milk her?" So Leanne had to learn how to milk, and boy there was a lot of milk.

Now at very same time Leanne's little boy Liam was suffering terribly with eczema and despite trying dozens of medications and natural therapies nothing worked. Then one day she read on the internet that goats milk helped relieve skin conditions such as eczema. Leanne had plenty of goats milk.

So she set about to make goats milk soap on the kitchen stove, and the first bars were just awful. But in time she perfected it and low and behold it cleared up Liam's eczema in a week. The goat did what the doctor's couldn't. She made more soaps and went to the local craft show one weekend to sell them.

She sold out in an hour. Soon she was making soap in the kitchen and the garage and she couldn't keep up with demand. Later she moved into a factory and started employing workers. Today her company 'Billie Goat Soap' sells five thousand cakes of soap a week. She sells to 700 stores around Australia and exports to ten countries.

Leanne makes no claims about the soap but the reaction from sufferers of skin conditions is proof enough that something in the pure goats milk soap is working.

To anyone who ever asked themselves can I do it, this is a story of inspiration and how two very different situations came together and transformed so many lives.

We spoke to the founder and creator of Billie Goat Soap, Leanne Faulkner about her skin care saviour.

What exactly is Billie Goat Soap?
Well there are a couple of key things.

All of our soaps are made by hand in the traditional way using the cold process. Combine that with the ingredients we use which is fresh goats milk and local Australian olive oil, you get an extremely moisturising all natural soap.

How does this compare to other supermarket brand soaps?
Our soaps are all 100 per cent natural and all of the ingredients we use are fresh and natural. We use no artificial fragrance, no artificial hardeners and no artificial lathering agents. We use nothing that could possible irritate the skin. Nothing is synthetic.

What are some of the benefits of using goat soap?
There are many ingredients that are extremely good on your skin. Goats milk has a PH level very close to the skin's own PH level. It is also very high it vitamin A and vitamin B12. The soap is also high is selenium- in fact its 27 per cent higher than in cows milk.

Selenium is a good antioxidant for the skin and the lactic acid in the soap acts as a natural exfoliant.

What claims do you make for the soap?
We make no claims and we don't claim that this soap will cure anything. We just make a good honest product.

What people can expect though is that their skin should be smoother and a lot more moisturised. Results vary depending on the individual.

Where can I buy the soap and how much does it cost?
You can purchase the soap from www.billiegoatsoap.com.au .

The plain soap has a RRP of $6.95.
