Nick Coe joined the Melbourne bureau of A Current Affair in April 2007 as a reporter.
Born in Wangaratta in Victoria, Nick, 37, knew at a young age he wanted a career in journalism. At 16, he began a cadetship with the Wangaratta Chronicle.
In 1988, he joined the Sunday Observer as a general news reporter. He moved from print to television news in 1990 when he joined Prime Television in Albury.
In 1993, he left Australia to travel overseas for two years, spending a year in the Scottish highlands working as a bartender. He counts this experience as an invaluable lesson in dealing with different kinds of people, a critical skill for any journalist.
Upon his return, he took up a position with WIN TV in Ballarat. Four months later, he was recruited to National Nine News, where he worked as a reporter until early 2007.
Nick counts the disappearance of Moe toddler Jaidyn Leskie, the 1998 Sydney to Hobart yacht disaster and the Bali 9 court cases as his most memorable stories.
He was also the first television journalist to report live from Beaconsfield in Tasmania after the Anzac Day mine disaster and broke the news that rescuers had finally reached Brandt Webb and Todd Russell.
Nick is married with three young children.
