It's the new diet France's women have hailed a revolution. The new Dukan diet's four-stage system concentrates on losing unwanted fat in the first two stages and then changing the diet to keep it off.
For the first time in English, Dr Pierre Dukan has explained the four stages of the diet.
The four-stage Dukan plan
1st stage: ATTACK
1-10 days of eating nothing but protein (meat, fish and non-fat dairy products).
2nd stage: CRUISE
Alternate protein days with vegetable and protein days, introducing unlimited vegetables.
3rd stage: CONSOLIDATION
Every day is a protein and vegetable day, but add:
a piece of fruit, two slices of bread and a serving of cheese each day, plus one to two starchy meals (pasta, risotto) a week and a couple of "celebration meals" a week when you eat whatever you like.
Stay at this stage for ten days for every kilogram you lost in previous phases.
4th stage: STABILISATION
Eat what you like without guilt or restriction, but adhere to one rule: protein only on Thursdays. Forever.
