Fridges, washing machines, ovens and dishwashers are the essential household items that too easily put families into debt.
But you can pick up appliances and score savings up to 60 percent if you're clever about when are where you shop.
Elise Davidson from consumer group CHOICE recommends lots of research.
"If you offer to pay cash or you know suggest you might take your business elsewhere and wander out of the store, you'll often find that the sales person can offer you a better deal," she says.
"You'd be silly to pay full price for anything because wherever you look there's a sale going on somewhere."
